St. Nicholas not only had a large sack and his crosier with him. He had also brought a guitar. To welcome him, the children joined him in singing cheerful St. Nicholas songs. Then things got more serious. St. Nicholas had brought his golden book with him and what he read out showed that he had a lot to say about the girls and boys. As a farewell gift, all the first-graders received a large chocolate Santa Claus.
Pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4 and all adults naturally also received a treat made from fair trade chocolate on this special day.
