Explore, marvel and shine: Year 4 on the trail of electricity and energy

The lessons involved experimenting, building and discussing. The children learned how to handle electricity safely, drew simple technical sketches and found out which materials conduct electricity - and which do not. With a great deal of curiosity, they created their first circuits, in which small lamps suddenly began to light up. Renewable energies also played an important role: where does electricity actually come from - and how can it be generated in an environmentally friendly way?

The excursion to Raesfeld Nature Park was a special experience. There, the interested pupils visited the exhibition "On the trail of nature". In the integrated school laboratory, the children were allowed to do their own research and pursue their own questions. They were able to discover nature with all their senses at many hands-on and listening stations. This turned learning outside the classroom into a real adventure - in the spirit of education for sustainable development (ESD).

The series of lessons concluded with a creative project: each child built a lighthouse with a functioning electrical circuit. With patience and dexterity, cables were connected and lamps inserted. When the lighthouses lit up at the end, everyone involved was delighted.
