children's rights

Children get involved for children

In the Year 3 and 4 religion groups, the boys and girls have been working intensively on the important topic of children's rights under the guidance of Ms. Grammel-Engel. Through various activities and discussions, the pupils learned what rights every child has and how important it is to protect these rights. The area of child labor in particular touched everyone involved. Our pupils dealt with the challenges and living conditions of children who have to live and work in difficult circumstances and are therefore often unable to go to school.

To round off the lesson, we took part in a "Bread for the World" campaign. As part of this campaign, the children turned fair trade Christmas chocolate into delicious chocolate crossies. This creative chocolate upcycling was not only a lot of fun, but also raised awareness of fair trade and the importance of sustainable consumption.

By making the chocolate crossies, the pupils were able to demonstrate their knowledge and commitment to children's rights in a delicious way. We are proud of the commitment of our religion group and hope that the children will carry the important values they have learned forward into their everyday lives.

The chocolate crossies were handed out for a donation during the parents' consultation days.

Special thanks go to Anja Tieke, Verena Hoge and Helana Ichaya, who gave us great help and advice.

We would also like to thank sociology student Lena-Sophia Engel for her help.

Together, we are committed to a world in which every child has the opportunity to live and learn in peace, freedom and security.

No one is too small for this!
