In the days before, each child had chosen two books from a selection of different children's books. Many parents responded to the school's call and agreed to read these books to the children. There were also children's books in Arabic, Dutch, Polish and Ukrainian.
At 5 p.m., the children set off equipped with cuddly cushions and a good mood.

The first reading time focused on the stories in the languages of origin. In sections, the interested pupils listened to the same story in German and the other language. The stories were read aloud by parents and staff from the Lindenschule.

Under the direction of Ms. Wachholz and Ms. Kernebeck, the support association had prepared delicious popcorn, pretzels and drinks for the children during the break. The children were very happy about this great offer and the mild spring weather allowed the girls and boys to play in the fresh air in the schoolyard during the break.

After 30 minutes, the storytelling continued in new small groups. This time, the children listened intently to the stories of SAMS, Harry Potter, the LAMA Gang, the Nutcracker Gang and the girl Willow. Of course, only excerpts from these exciting, funny and imaginative books could be read aloud that evening. However, all the books are also part of the school library, so that every child has the opportunity to borrow the book at school and read it for themselves.
Reading to the children was great fun for everyone involved and there were happy faces everywhere.

We would like to thank the Friends of the Linden School and all those who contributed to making this special experience for the pupils of the Linden School possible again this year.
We continue to call on all families to make reading aloud a regular part of everyday life at home. The high level of participation in this voluntary activity shows how much children enjoy being read to.
Reading aloud is not only a wonderful shared experience. Reading aloud also inspires children for language and other worlds of thought and awakens their desire to read. Reading aloud promotes fundamental skills that are of central importance for a child's development.
