Tuesday, 17.06.2025, was a very special school day for the pupils of the first and second classes at Lindenschule.
Children's book author Lilli L'Arronge accepted the invitation to Gronau. Excited and full of anticipation, the children made their way to the public library. There, everything was prepared for the author's reading and the children were allowed to make themselves comfortable. They learned that the author comes from Münster and not only writes her books herself, but also makes the drawings for them.
For this day, the author had chosen her book "Familienbande" ("Family Ties"), in which she tells humorous and heart-warming stories about the everyday life of a young family. Lilli L'Arronge revealed to the interested audience that the stories in the book reflect her own family and are based on true events.
During the reading, the pictures of the book were shown on a large screen, so that the primary school children were immediately drawn in not only by the funny stories, but also by the great illustrations. The friendly children's book author repeatedly encouraged the children to join in with typical "comic" noises, such as squeaking guinea pigs and chewing noises.
After the pupils had listened to several stories from the book, the author drew characters that the children had requested. Lilli L'Arronge used simple tricks to turn these drawings into a short story, much to the delight of the girls and boys. This resulted in a very personal story with the class animals, which the children were very happy about. After the reading, the pupils received the drawings as a souvenir, which will have a very special place in the classroom.
Many thanks to Lilli L'Arronge for the great readings and a big thank you to Ms. Kammholz and the team from the Gronau public library, who were very supportive in organizing the author reading.
