The fourth-graders were the first to go. You could tell the children were a little nervous as they pushed their bikes over to Ms. Oberhaus and Mr. Hes. The police officers checked the lights, brakes, reflectors, and other important safety features, among other things. Thanks to their friendly and calm demeanor, the children’s nervousness quickly faded. Bicycles that met all the requirements received a sticker as a visible sign of their road safety. The young cyclists are especially proud of this recognition.

Bicycles found to have defects were initially not eligible to receive a sticker. However, the families in question will receive specific instructions on which repairs are necessary. We ask parents to have any identified defects repaired as soon as possible. A roadworthy bicycle is an important prerequisite for a safe trip to school and plays a crucial role in preventing accidents. The children’s safety is always our top priority. Once the defects have been repaired, the children can present their bicycles at school again and will then also receive the coveted award.

The safety of our students is a top priority for us. Many children regularly ride their bikes to school. This makes it all the more important that their bikes are in good working order and that the children learn what matters when it comes to road safety. The bike check makes a valuable contribution to this effort and complements the school’s road safety education program.
Special thanks go to Ms. Oberhaus and Mr. Hes of the Gronau Police Department for their dedicated support and trusting cooperation.
We are pleased that this partnership has once again helped promote the safety of our students this year.
